My Name is Anthony Gonsalves is a 2008 Hindi language, Bollywood film starring Nikhil Dwivedi, Amrita Rao, Mithun Chakraborty, and Anupam Kher. Priyanka Chopra makes a brief guest appearance.
The film is about a young man named Anthony, who lives at a church with other orphans like himself, and dreams of becoming a film star hero.
At night, he works as a bartending waiter at Jimmy’s club, which is run by a mafia gang. One day he decides that his dreams should be real, and asks people around the bar about his idea of becoming a hero. He gets mixed up with a shady self acclaimed Bollywood hotshot, who–for the price of his drinks–lands him a gig as a dancer the next day. Anthony arrives at the gig and is asked to preform in the back row, and leaves after explaining that he’s a hero.
Behind this sweet story, is a hidden murder that the mafia group is trying to keep hushed about, until Anthony happens upon a incriminating scene, betrayal, love, deceit, stardom, and confession happen from there on.
Our rating: 6.3/10
Anthony Gonsalves is a great light film, it’s like Dance Pe Chance meets the Mafia underground, but less flashy.
Not a bad watch, its a great time waste.
