Mujhse Shaadi Karogi Review

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi Review

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi is a Hindi film released in 2004. Starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

Salman Khan plays Sameer, a man cursed at birth to be violent and hot headed. After seeing his potential marriage turn to failure, Sameer moves to sunny Goa to become a lifeguard. He comes across a priest (Rajpal Yadav) who befriends him, and helps him attain his ‘fate’ of being with the bombshell Rani (Priyanka Chopra). But their attempts fail as Sameer seems to have been Rani’s fathers’ enemy in a past life (Amrish Puri) and is unable to make a good impression on him no matter how hard he tries.

When things are looking up for Sameer, trickster Sunny (Akshay Kumar) moves into the neighborhood–actually by neighborhood I should say Sameer’s room. Sunny and Sameer room together due to expenses. Both Sunny and Sameer battle for Rani, hoping to say “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi?” (Will you marry me?) .

Our rating: 6/10

The film is interesting, but it feels like other films that Salman and Kumar have done together. Nonetheless, it is pretty funny. I found myself laughing a lot during the film, especially towards the end when there is a romantic misunderstanding between Sameer and Rani’s mother that you just have to see. And of course lets not forget about Tommy, the Rani’s family’s dog (often regarded as the son of  the family) is an interesting addition to the film because of the pull it has on Puri’s character (who loves him so much and ends up in being the center of a lot of troublesome situations for Sameer). The film has a happy ending, and there is an unexpected character change in the end (I won’t spoil it). To conclude, if you are your looking for a light romantic comedy with a bit of Goa meets late 90s/early 00′s charm, Mujhse Shaadi Karoji is a great ‘fun’ filmy for a boring night in.
